The Policy aims to ensure the council promotes the welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults. Thanet District Council has a number of statutory obligations to work with Kent County Council, primarily, as well as other agencies, to ensure safeguarding is embedded within all service areas throughout the council.
The policy is supported by a series of briefings and e-learning and runs in conjunction with the Council’s Whistleblowing, Code of Conduct, Data Protection and Information Sharing policies. It aligns also with the Human Resources DBS guidance and Safe Recruitment Procedures.
Cabinet agreed the adoption of the Safeguarding Policy.
That it helps the council fulfil its statutory obligations and promotes the welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults.
The option of not having a policy was considered but rejected due to the need to ensure statutory obligations are met.
