Purpose:
To purchase 19 Hawley Square, Margate from Orbit Housing Association for a fee of £75k. The building we are purchasing is to allow The Theatre Royal to expand its business operations. At the current time they have insufficient premises to do this. The funding for this scheme is to come from the New Homes Bonus budget. The building is currently derelict and has been so for a number of years

Agree to purchase.
Reasons for the decision:
The purchase will bring a derelict building back into use and allow the Theatre Royal to expand its operations.
Alternative options considered:
Orbit could develop the site into flats. It would be of more benefit to the area for the Theatre to expand rather than Orbit providing affordable housing in the property.
