Minutes:

Apologies were received from Councillors Curran and Day.

 

2.

Minutes:

On the proposal of the Leader, seconded by Councillor Matterface, and there being no further nominations, Councillor Falcon was declared elected as Chairman of Council for the 2017/18 municipal year.

 

Councillor Rev Piper thanked Members and Officers for their support during his time as Chairman of the Council.

 

RECESS

 

There was a short recess, during which the new Chairman of Council was invested with the Chain and Badge of Office.

 

Following this recess, Councillor Falcon made the statutory declaration of acceptance of office of Chairman of Council, returned thanks for her election and formalised Councillor Stummer-Schmertzing and Councillor Larkins as her escorts.

Minutes:

On the proposal of Councillor Wells, seconded by Councillor Matterface, and there being no further nominations, Councillor Edwards was declared elected as Vice-Chairman of Council for the 2017/18 municipal year.

 

Councillor Edwards made the statutory declaration of acceptance of office of Vice-Chairman of Council and returned thanks for his election.

 

Councillor Howes offered thanks for his time as Vice-Chairman of the Council.

4.

To approve the Minutes of the meeting of Council held on 22 March 2017, copy attached.

It was proposal by the Chairman, seconded by the Vice-Chairman and agreed that:

 

“The minutes of the Council meeting held on 22 March 2017 be approved and signed by the Chairman.”

To receive any declarations of interest from Members in accordance with Council Procedure rule 2.1 (v)

There were no declarations of interest.

6.

Announcements

To receive any announcements from the Chairman, Leader, Members of the Cabinet or Chief Executive in accordance with Council Procedure Rule 2.1 (vi).

Minutes:

The Chairman announced that Mrs Langley, a former Councillor between 1984 and 2003, had recently passed away.  Members paid tribute to her work as a Councillor and all present stood for a minute’s silence as a mark of respect.

JOINT TRANSPORTATION BOARD

 

Members were asked to note that paragraph 4.10 of the report should be amended to show that the Joint Transportation Board now consists of seven Councillors from Thanet District Council and seven Councillors from Kent County Council.

 

It was proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Vice-Chairman, and Members agreed that:

 

“The proportionality between groups for the Thanet District Council seats on the Joint Transportation Board would be four UKIP, two Conservative and one Labour.”
