The Community Safety Partnership Working Party scrutinised the provision of support for victims of sexual crime in Thanet as part of their work programme for 2016/17. Recommendations were made to the Overview & Scrutiny Panel who agreed with them and forwarded them to Cabinet for decision and action.

Cabinet agreed the following:
1. To approach the Town Council’s to consider if they are happy to support the provision of East Kent Rape Crisis service in Thanet by way of a monetary contribution;
2. That approaches are made to the ‘Place2Be’ to provide their free children services to schools in Thanet;
3. To write to the police and crime commissioner outlining Thanet District Council’s intent to ask Town Councils to fund East Kent Rape Crisis to provide additional services within Thanet and enquire if the Commissioner is willing to work with those Town Councils.
The Council received a petition in December 2016 regarding access to Hodges Gap promenade car park. This area is currently regulated by Foreshore Barriers and the group who submitted this document is requesting that the barriers remain open at all times.

Cabinet agreed that the barriers should remain locked unless the concession in situ is open and trading to allow daytime vehicular access to the lower promenade at both Palm/Walpole Bay areas.
The Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) is a key corporate strategic tool which sets out the Council’s property objectives, focussing on how the Council intends to utilise its asset base to deliver its Corporate Plan over the next five years. The strategic document sets out the template and framework for how the Council will seek to utilise its land and property assets as a corporate resource.
