Cabinet approved the Contaminated Land Strategy 2018-2023.

The statutory guidance requires local authorities to review their contaminated land strategies from time to time. The revised Contaminated Land Strategy 2018-2023 has been approved as it ensures compliance with current best practice guidance and reflects the existing position of the Council.

The options to not adopt the revised Contaminated Land Strategy 2018-2023 or to Approve the Contaminated Land Strategy 2018-2019 with changes were considered. However these options were rejected as, respectively, they place the authority at risk of challenge from government (Option 3.3) and do not require further amendment (Option 3.2).
