Decision details

Establishment of a Health and Wellbeing Cabinet Advisory Group

Decision Maker: Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Strategy and Transformation

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Previously a Cabinet Advisory Group was set up to look more broadly at health and wellbeing provisions across Thanet and this would include the community impact of major health service change proposals and responses to consultations. The attached terms of reference fully identify the work that the group will be undertaking. This decision is to re-constitute the advisory group with a different membership structure. However the terms of reference remain unchanged.

Decision:

That a Cabinet Advisory Group be formed and that the terms of reference and membership structure of the Group are established as set out in annex 1 of this decision notice.

Reasons for the decision:

Understanding the community impact of proposed changes to health provision requires the consideration of a range of issues and service delivery and it’s essential that Cabinet have a clear understanding of these. The Cabinet Advisory Group will operate in accordance with the terms of reference so as to contribute meaningfully to Cabinet’s understanding.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative option of not agreeing to form a Cabinet Advisory Group was considered and rejected as the benefits of having an understanding of health and wellbeing provision in Thanet to enable robust responses to consultations were considered to be important in informing Cabinet.
