Decision details

To acquire the property for £450,000.

To enable the Council to:

·  Have a 4-bedroom level access property added to its stock in due course (for which there is an identifiable need as per the council’s housing register);

·  Have a property that can be used in the short-to-medium term as a site office for the Council’s appointed contractor on Phase 4 of its affordable homes programme - one of the sites being Clements Road. This acquisition will therefore minimise disruption to residents in the area as there will be no need for containerised site buildings on site during the build.

While the Council could have chosen not to buy the property, this would have led to inconvenience for residents, a missed opportunity to acquire a much-needed home in the long-term and also mean the council was having to liaise with an additional stakeholder during the build phase.
