Purpose:

Notice of the approval to purchase 2 large (7.5 tonne) mechanical sweeping vehicles. This is a planned purchase that sits within the 2024 vehicle replacement programme. The vehicles are to be diesel.

Decision:

Cabinet approved the purchase of two 7.5 tonne mechanical sweepers at a cost of approximately £175K per vehicle.

Reasons for the decision:

Both vehicles are on the rolling replacement program and would double the provision of this type of vehicle and remove the one vehicle which is currently hired at a cost of £36,400 per year.

Alternative options considered:

Smaller vehicles which would have potentially been electric, but these lacked the size to make them a practical alternative.
