Changes to Vehicle Guidelines pdf icon PDF 86 KB

Minutes:

Alison Brock, Technical Support Manager introduced the report and said that newer car models were now being manufactured with darker glasses, which did not comply with the current regulations. The current policy covered the front windows. Rear windows were only allowed AS2. A3 was now the standard level for the back windows. Changing the windows to comply with the current policy would cost a fortune for taxi operators.

TDC was only one of a few councils that still had this requirement in place. There was also an old measurement for car seats which needed updating as well. There was a need to adopt the county wide single car seat measurement. The current measurement for rear car seats in vehicles is out of date with some other authorities and therefore it has been changed to assist in allowing other types of vehicles to be licenced for less than 4 passengers.

Councillor Rogers proposed, Councillor Wing seconded and the Board agreed the requested changes to the current guidelines, as detailed in Annex 1 to the report.
