To approve the Minutes of the meeting of the General Purposes Committee held on 21 January 2020, copy attached.

Minutes:

The minutes should reflect that Ms Alison Lowton, who had been commissioned by the Local Government Association (LGA) on behalf of Thanet District Council, made the written report to the General Purposes Committee, that was considered at the meeting on 21 January 2020.

 

Councillor Campbell proposed, Councillor David Saunders seconded and Members agreed that the minutes were a correct record of the meeting held on 21 January 2020.

Minutes:

Councillor Campbell proposed, Councillor Stuart Piper seconded and Members agreed that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for agenda item 5 as it contains exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1, 2 and 5 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

 

The Chairman adjourned the meeting for five minutes to enable officers to reset video conferencing for the confidential session.

Report to General Purposes Committee: Delegation to Investigation and Disciplinary Sub-Committee

Minutes:

Ms Rosalind Foster, Partner at Browne Jacobson, LLP presented the confidential report which Members considered and after some discussion which included Ms Foster providing clarity on issues arising from the report, the General Purposes Committee agreed a decision on the way forward.
