The Licensing Officer presented the report.

 

 

The Applicant addressed the Sub-Committee.

 

The Sub-Committee asked questions of the Applicant.

 

 

The member of the public addressed the Sub-Committee.

 

The Applicant responded to concerns raised by the member of the public.

Further to debate, the Sub-Committee agreed the following:

 

‘In the application of Jo Fulton Tolley for a new club premises certificate for The Gold Room VIP Private Club – 7 High Street, Margate, Kent, CT9 1DL.

 

The Thanet District Council as the relevant Licensing Authority in accordance with section 12 of the Licensing Act, and upon the consideration of representations made to the Licensing Sub-Committee on the 26th April 2021 by:

 

1. The Licensing Authority – Alison Brook

2. The Applicant  - Jo Fulton Tolley

3. Representation from the public: – Robin Haddon

 

It is the decision of the Licensing Sub-Committee that a new club premises certificate for The Gold Room VIP Private Club – 7 High Street, Margate, Kent, CT9 1DL be GRANTED SUBJECT TO ONE CONDITION.

 

In considering the licensing objectives, it is the view of the committee that the affect will be as follows;

 

Prevention of crime disorder – Will not be affected.

Public safety – Will not be affected.

Prevent nuisance – The condition applied to fully give effect to this objective is that no live and recorded music or entertainment take place outside the back of the premises at any time.

Protect children from harm – Will not be affected.

 

 

Post meeting consideration: Upon the consideration of further representations made by the applicant after the decision of the sub-committee, it has been noted that live music is not a licensable activity in the circumstances that are being proposed, therefore the application will be granted without any condition attached.
