Britain First March

We the undersigned petition the council to Liaise with Kent Police to make sure the residents of Thanet and Ramsgate in particular are afforded our right to carry on with our lawful way of life and not be fearful of violence and affray from the proposed march on 14th October 2017.

Britain First are proposing to march in Ramsgate on 14th October 2017, apparently over something to do with the much publicized Ramsgate rape case.

This case is now over, the restaurant which was at the centre of the horrific crimes has been closed down and the licence revoked, the perpetrators have been found guilty and will be sentenced during September.

There seems to be little justification for this march, other than to cause trouble and harass the residents of Thanet.

Britain First have used this case to incite religious hatred and hostility towards innocent members of our community and have instilled fear among local residents.

The leaders of Britain First have both been arrested for incitement to religious hatred and have released dozens of videos to their online followers repeatedly claiming that they are being persecuted, when in reality they are encouraging the persecution of innocent people which if this march proceeds will include the residents of Thanet and Ramsgate.

We, the residents of Thanet are concerned that the presence of a Far Right, racist and Islamophobic group such as Britain First will not only bring many undesirable types with them to Ramsgate, but will also attract a considerable number of counter protesters from outside the area and we fear there could be eruptions of violence and damage similar those seen at the Far Right march in Dover last year.

We fear for our safety, and that of our children and elderly residents and ask that Thanet District Council liaise with Kent Police to stop the proposed march going ahead in Thanet, by a court order if necessary.

We are not saying ban their right to march, just to the location they have chosen in Thanet.
