Broadstairs Toilet Refurbishment

We the undersigned petition the council to We the undersigned wish to petition Thanet District Council regarding the following: We request that the income (£350.000) from the sale of a Broadstairs asset, (Viking Bay lift shaft, former toilet and shelter, be reinvested in Broadstairs to improve Broadstairs facilities and infrastructure, specifically the public toilets. These facilities are very important to our visitors and residents and require urgent refurbishment and upgrading to reach a standard that reflects people’s expectations in 2017, it will also ensure these facilities present a positive image of a popular coastal resort.

Thanet Distict Council recently sold off a Broadstairs asset. This asset was expected to sell for around £50,000. It realised £350,000. It is very good news that what is now somewhat of an eyesore on Viking bay is going to be bought back into service and improved. However as this sale realised far more than expected, we would like the money to be reinvested into Broadstairs. The state of the public toilets on Viking Bay is appalling, the Albion St toilets are closed after being condemned and the Clock Tower toilets need refurbishment. We believe is is only fair that what could be seen as an unexpected windfall from a the sale of a Broadstairs asset, should be used to improve Broadstairs facilities, for visitors and residents.
