To progress the Tower Block retrofit and refurbishment programme, including the letting of the contract

Cabinet considered a report regarding the  HRA tower block refurbishment and retrofit programme.  Approval requested for 2 points:

 

  1. Approval of  the appointment of Mears Group PLC as design and delivery partner via direct award using the Prosper framework;

 

2.  Approval of  the appointment of the in-house delivery team, as detailed in annex 1 to the Cabinet report.

What the decision will mean: Once the tower block refurbishment and retrofit programme contract is awarded, we can start the design for the major works. The works include the replacement of the External Wall Insulation (required for building safety), retrofit of energy efficiency measures that will ensure all units in the tower blocks area at EPC C or B and cyclical/refurb works. The contract will span for 36 months while all these works are completed on the tower blocks
