The replacement of Open Spaces fleet vehicles and equipment a minimum of 7 years old to the value of £1.12 million

This report proposes the purchase of six new 7.5 tonne cage vehicles, as planned in the Planned Vehicle Replacement Programme. In line with TDCs Net Zero Targets, two of these vehicles will be electric powered, the remaining four will have standard diesel engines.

 

The report also explored the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) diesel this fuel is made in a much cleaner manner than standard diesel and as such reduces overall carbon emission by up to 90%. A trial of this fuel will start shortly to assess the feasibility of using it in some capacity.

What the decision will mean: These vehicles will be procured in FY24/25, in line with the vehicle replacement programme, for end of life tippers. They will be electric with zero emissions. The Vehicle Replacement Programme for Open Spaces the procurement will start in 2024/25 but the order will be placed in 2025/26 budget year (as per Capital meeting that moved the spend to 25/26).
