Members received a presentation by Hazel Carpenter, Accountable Officer for Thanet CCG and South Kent Coast CCG. The presentation provided an update on the current situation regarding the proposed re-organisation of health delivery in South East Kent.
In view of the changes in focus from only looking at re-organising East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) to addressing the broader question of developing an integrated approach for the delivery of health and social care services in South East Kent, Members proposed amendments to the terms of reference for the CAG.
Cabinet agreed the following:
1. That as per the recommendation of Full Council; establish the QEQM Hospital Cabinet Advisory Group;
2. To set the membership at 8 Councillors;
3 That Representation on the CAG to be made up of 4 UKIP; 2 Conservative; 1 Labour; 1 Democratic Independent Group (DIG);
4. The draft terms of reference as set out in Annex 2 of the Cabinet report.
It is anticipated that towards the end of this year EKHUFT would be putting in the public domain information relating to their proposed review of A&E services at QEQM Hospital. Cabinet needs to set up a Cabinet Advisory Group to assist inform a Cabinet view to any such proposed re-organisation if a public consultation is going to be undertaken by EKHUFT.
Not to set up a cabinet advisory group. However this option was rejected because Thanet District Council ought to respond to a public consultation in cases where issues of interest to the district are being considered. In so doing the executive ought to agree a view from an informed position.
