One of Thanet District Council’s priorities is to promote inward investment and job creation and increase prosperity for residents through economic growth. The district, through this Strategy (and the Local Plan), aims to create the right environment and conditions to capitalise on the areas assets and supporting residents to be enterprising and aspirational.
Cabinet agreed to adopt the Economic Growth Strategy.
The Economic Growth strategy underpins the Council’s Priority 3: Promoting inward investment and job creation. It sets a direction for officers to develop action plans in order to deliver the strategy and support delivery of the local Plan.
Consultants were commissioned to support the Council in developing the strategy to provide external guidance and a framework in order to include consultation with relevant stakeholders. The Strategy provides the Council with a vision and direction to deliver. The alternative was to deliver the strategy in house but there was reduced resources and it proved more beneficial to bring in outside resources.
