QEQM Hospital Cabinet Advisory Group Membership Structure

Decision Maker: Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Strategy and Transformation

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

After a full debate at Council on 16 July 2015, Members agreed to set up a Cabinet Advisory Group (CAG) which would consider the emerging proposals from the East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT). This was done via an individual cabinet decision and the Group met in April 2016.

As a result of a recent change in political Leadership at the Council and the formation of the Independent and UKIP Group and Thanet Independent Councillors, the group representation on the Cabinet Advisory Group must change.

Membership is in the gift of the Leader and he has decided upon the Membership set our below.

Decision:

That the new membership structure be made up of the following political group representation:

2 Conservative;

1 Independent and UKIP Group;

1 Labour;

1 Thanet Independent Councillors.

Reasons for the decision:

There has been a change in the political leadership and group composition in Council hence the need to change the group representation on the Cabinet Advisory Group.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative is to not amend the political group representation. However this was rejected as it would have led to the membership of the sub group being non representative of the current political make-up of the Council.
