Decision details

Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Alcohol Control

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The ASB, Crime & Policing Act 2014 requires a feedback exercise is undertaken to establish public support prior to the making of any Public Spaces Protection Order.

Decision:

To approve the feedback exercise and proposed order.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable Thanet District Council and Kent Police to have additional enforcement capability with regards to alcohol related anti-social behaviour within the district.

Alternative options considered:

No longer having restrictions or the ability to enforce alcohol related anti-social behaviour would restrict the council and police’s ability to manage these issues.

Feedback from the public at Neighbourhood Engagement Meetings is that this is something they would like to see greater management of nuisance.
