Save Our NHS in Kent Judicial Review

We the undersigned petition the council to contribute £5,000 to Save Our NHS in Kent's judicial review of the decision to close the stroke unit at QEQM Hospital.

NHS bosses have decided to close three out of the existing six hospital stroke units in Kent, which will greatly increase journey times for the most deprived populations. This will severely affect the chances of people in Thanet reaching timely stroke care and could increase mortality and disability rates as a result.
Save Our NHS in Kent (SONiK) has lodged a legal challenge, asking a judge to review the decision and arguing for at least four stroke units in the county and for one of these units to be located at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Thanet. This will ensure that all patients reach the care they need within approximately 35 minutes.
