Esme Chilton, Chair of the Children’s Trust Board and Chief Executive of ‘Future Creative’ opened the meeting and outlined the presentation which was to be presented by Mark Cunnington, Interim Associate Pathway, Children & Maternity Services. She added that the Children’s Trust Board were jointly hosting the ‘Children’s Summit’ and that the best outcomes would come from using resources effectively with multi-agency working.

 

Dr. Tony Martin, Chair of the Thanet Health and Wellbeing Board who was to take the summit forward, continued by outlining the format of the afternoon’s proceedings and emphasised the importance of the summit and the integrated working arrangements which were essential to the aspirations in transforming the health of people living and working in Thanet. He added that they would work with local people, communities and partners to deliver high quality services that are patient-focused, safe and innovative. We want our local communities to be ambitious about their own health and to challenge the commission for best possible care solutions.

 

The two Boards’ then received a presentation from Martin Cunnington, Interim Associate Pathway, Children & Maternity Services on ‘Improving outcomes for children and young people - A national challenge & local opportunities (presentation attached).

 

Following the presentation, Andrew Scott-Clark, Director of Public Health Improvement, Kent County Council said that currently, Thanet statistics were all ‘red’ and that by effective joint commissioning and improvements being made in Thanet, that it would likely see improvements in Kent as a whole.

 

The format of the meeting proceeded in a ‘workshop’ style and outcomes ‘2’ and ‘4’ were discussed. The information gathered from each table is to be collated and the results of the workshop brought back to a future meeting.
